Wearing: ASOS stripe top, vintage skirt, ASOS camel textured coat, vintage bag, vintage parrot badge, PinkLouLou daisy ring, Topshop boots (similar here) and Oscar Wylee 'Brooke' sapphire tortoise sunglassesI've got a massive thing for Winter right now and it's such a silly phase to go through as we are heading into warmer weather in Australia. The thing is, I've been browsing online a little too much on my breaks and as so many of my favourite online stores are based in the Northern hemisphere, I keep getting exposed to the beautiful knits and coats that have just arrived online. I feel like Australian labels generally do not do Winter so seriously. There are never many coats or knits in Winter collections in Australia and shops are constantly stocked with tees and very thin knits throughout the cooler months. And for good reason too! I used to think that I had an abnormal sensitivity to the cold. And then I went to Sydney. And I realised, despite only being an hour north from the city I live in (Melbourne), it was so, so much warmer. And then I started checking weather reports for other cities in Australia on a regular basis. And then it hit me. It's just Melbourne (and Hobart). The fact is, the majority of Australia is indeed quite warm in Winter which is probably why no one bothers to make more than a couple of coats each season, which is so justified. If there's not much of a market for a wool coat over here, why make it?My outerwear deprivation hit its peak a fortnight ago, when my longing for a textured coat was finally fulfilled when I finally caved in and filled my cart with this oversized (for comfort at uni) camel coloured coat and a furry leopard print one in a similar cut. This morning, I woke up to discover the most BEAUTIFUL array of coloured coats (literally a dream come true) that just hit Topshop and instantly surrendered my credit card over for a lime green coat (so happy to have finally found one after so so long searching) and a beautiful medium pastel blue furry coat as well. I'm also keeping tabs on this pale pink one, hoping it will come back in stock in my size soon. I know it's basically Summer in Australia but when I see a coat I like, I'm not letting it go because I know my chances of finding a similar one come Winter in Australia is slim! Now, to ship myself off to London so I can get some wear out of them right away..
