I always leave putting together fashion week outfits to the last minute. It’s always too stressful to pre-plan what to wear five days in a row when you have no idea what the weather forecast will be. So when I packed for Sydney this year, I brought with me a whole heap of separates with no idea how I was going to wear them. The only thing I did have myself covered for was basically every single climate situation – sunscreen, raincoat, umbrella, boots, sandals, jackets, dresses, singlets, jumpers. Yes my suitcase was brimming and I’m kind of glad because if I was to cull, the first things to go would have been the raincoat and umbrella, both which ended up being so very handy over the extremely wet week. So when it came to day three, I had already exhausted half my options. I knew I wanted to wear two pieces, this fab Leroy bomber and also this bright Romance was Born dress (yes, dress). They were the most beautiful pieces, but they weren’t quite made for each other or myself – I’m clearly too short for everything straight off the runway (sigh). So in a moment of creative genius (or shall I say sartorial panic) I came up with the idea of folding the top of the dress neatly and underneath the puff of its skirt. Can you tell there’s a whole bodice and all underneath this psychedelic print? I think I may have scared a few people into thinking I casually chopped off half this Romance was Born dress!

I love the folding the dress idea! How do you make sure the skirt stays on? Without the zip doing its normal thing, or a belt, I’d be afraid that it would just sliiiide away. :)

i got lucky with this one. there wasn’t a zip at the back (the zip was on the top of the dress) and there was piping down the waist so it folded back quite perfectly! X
