love from ljubljana part ii
Wearing: Alpha60 Zali Sweat | Anthropologie scalloped auburn romper | Fossil original boyfriend chronograph watch in navy | Pandora lace botanique pendant necklace We're back in Ljubljana again to show you some more things around town & whilst Ljubljana is extremely beautiful by day with its cafe-lined riverside filled with pretty buildings, what I really wanted to show you was..
LJUBLJANA BY NIGHT
..Ljubljana by night. Whilst most people do the sightseeing component of their travels during the day, Ljubljana is even more magical when the sun sets and the riverside streets and bridges lights up! Most definitely have an early dinner on one of your days there so that you can take a walk alongside the riverbanks around dinner time to see the lights come on. It's truly spectacular. Also on the list is..
LJUBLJANA CASTLE
The best view of Ljubljana can be found on top of this hill at Ljubljana Castle. You can get up by walking or you can be lazy (like us on this day) and take the glass funicular up. In and around the castle, there is lots to do and see including museum, a chapel, restaurants (Restavracija Strelec is extremely highly rated!) and a number of lookout points. To reach the highest lookout point, you need to climb another tower at the castle and like any lookout point, it's well worth it.
FOOD SPOTS
For on-the-go options, we loved Back to Werk bakery (3rd image). Super cheap and filled with delicious baguettes and bagels stuffed with yummy fillings. For restaurants, our favourites are found in Knafljev Prehod, a little alleyway just off Preseren Square packed with restaurants with outdoor seating. Around here, we loved Cantina Mexicana (last image) which does great Mexican in large servings. We also especially loved Gostilna As (2nd image), a massive restaurant with the absolute best seafood spaghetti we tried all holiday. Do however get here early because despite the size, it still gets completely booked out! Also on our list is Gujzina (1st image) if you're looking to try the local cuisine.
A SPOT OF SHOPPING ON THE STREETS
There are lots of nice boutiques and small shops just behind the main square. One of my favourites over here is a shop called Smile (pictured in the last image) which is filled with lots of quirky jewellery, inspiring wall art, unique homewares and more. It's even got a wall covered with paper flowers. Do pop by if you're looking for a cute gift for a friend or yourself.I hope you liked this series on Ljubljana! Next up, I'll be taking you to on a trip out of town to the undeniably beautiful Lake Bled. You won't want to miss that one, so we'll speak soon :-)Photographers: Thomas Debono & I
