FUN TAIWAN ADVENTURES EP09: BEHIND THE SCENES
Episode 9 of Fun Taiwan Adventures is airing tonight - here is my accompanying behind-the-scenes diary of everything that happened on/off camera.
FUN TAIWAN ADVENTURES EP09: BEHIND THE SCENES
LOCATION: TAICHUNG 台中
At the end of every episode, there is a video challenge where we must submit a video each for an audience vote. I won last episode's video challenge and as a result, was able to choose the itinerary for episode 9! So for TaiChung, we started the week with a relaxing massage, followed it with a big dinner, went bike riding, oyster harvesting, coffee plantation hopping and then ended it with paragliding (Mike begged me into doing this).
COFFEE PLANTATION VISIT
I'm not a coffee drinker nor a coffee fan but chose this activity because Vid to coffee is like #kisforkanilovessushi. Anyway, I had no idea that coffee came from small trees with deep red beans. We spent a fun morning harvesting coffee beans and then used these very beans to dye our own handkerchiefs. If only my own veggie garden grew as much produce as this coffee plantation!

Savi & I: We totally fit in these kid-sized rides :D This girl is the sweetest and I was so happy to have met her!Professional flower hunter: I am. I love finding flowers and came across this one right next to one of our film locations. The production team is busying themselves on the other side of the building!CREW SELFIE: The friends/family I made on the show!
THE CREW
Here's a snap of what it really looks like behind the scenes of a relaxing massage. So many people work together to make a TV show happen - just look at how many camera people there were! Plus the audio assistants, production assistants, production manager & director - every location was like one big party and it took four massive vans to get us to every location.

OYSTER HARVESTING
Our oyster harvesting day was an accidental stripes party (most days were, actually). We visited an oyster farm where the farmers were breeding oysters on long ropes under the water. It was a really interesting process as I had never expected oysters to grow like this. I can't even explain what an oyster farm looks like, it's so strange you'd have to google it!PARAGLIDINGI've mixed thoughts about paragliding, I can't decide if I like it all not. I'm sure you all know I'm not an adventure sport kind of person but I had a go of this anyway. Prior glide, I basically had no idea what to expect and actually thought it was going to be pretty peaceful. Post glide, I was basically conked out for 45 minutes trying my best not to puke. In my mind I thought it was going to be like hot air ballooning but then the instructor spun some spinning free fall drop on me and all hell broke loose and I had to come down to ground. Apparently one is not allowed to vomit in the sky haha but the view was great whilst it lasted. Tim, I hope you like my go-pro footage. Mike, thanks for your purple beanie because apparently my head is too small for a standard helmet.
BIKE RIDING at Route 138, Ba Gua mountain
Totally not the bike riding I know. I thought we were going on a easy flat cruise but it ended up being up a massive mountain. It was the first time I rode a mountain bike - it was a total workout and more. Here's the video we made during the show for this episode:That's it for episode 9! Fun Taiwan Adventures Episode 9 airs in Australia/New Zealand at 11PM Sunday 26 June on Discovery TLC. Keep up on TV show updates on the Fun Taiwan Facebook page here.
