Little Movenpick Home
Hello from Movenpick on Karon Beach! Our recent trip to Thailand was our first time visiting the country and like many others looking for a seaside escape, we flew into Phuket to get some much needed villa-time. There are so many resorts in Phuket - the island is practically full of them so there's plenty of choice when it comes to booking your holiday. After a bit of looking around, we eventually narrowed our location down to Karon Beach. Karon Beach is close to Patong (should we ever feel like visiting) but is still a quiet and secluded area perfect for relaxing. Our home, Movenpick Resort & Spa!
Here's a peek into our stay..
The villa

One of my favourite things about Movenpick Resort & Spa is the variety of room and villa options on offer. You can book anything from a room in the main building to a garden villa, pool villa or multi-bedroom villa and still share the same facilities. We wanted something private and beautiful so staying in the penthouse plunge pool villa was perfect for our needs. See the villas in the above image? The top two floors make up the penthouse plunge pool villa with the pool on top and the room and bathroom directly below. The accommodation area is huge with plenty of seating and relaxation areas and the rooftop pool is the icing on the cake. We loved taking the staircase up to our own private pool every afternoon and ordering a fruit platter to share.
Buffet breakfasts

When it comes to buffet breakfasts, Movenpick certainly delivers! Tom & I always look out for accommodation that includes breakfast as it's such a convenient way to start the day. At Movenpick, there are two places to have breakfast. You can either head to Pacifica restaurant which is near the lobby at the front or walk towards the back of the resort to have breakfast overlooking the beach. The best thing about this is that both restaurants serve a different selection of foods so definitely visit both if you have the chance, there's both Asian and Western cuisine but my favourite is all the tropical fruits!
The grounds

If you feel like a bit of exploring, definitely go for a walk through the villa from the lobby to the beach. The grounds are packed with trees and plants so if you're a bit of a plant lover like me, you'll probably be super thrilled to see the plethora of tropical plants scattered around the resort. It feels like a massive tropical at Movenpick!
Getting out
If you want to head to Patong, it's easy to catch a tuk-tuk or taxi out. We took the tuk-tuk most of the time - I just love the open-air ride. It's about 20 minutes to Patong and about 300-400 THB. If you want to book a day tour during your stay, you can also do so at the lobby. If you want to head to the beach, simply walk out the back door and cross the road..!
Right outside the resort is also a strip of shops with everything you might need. There's a 7 Eleven for Asian snacks (think green tea pocky and taro buns!), ATMs, 2 pharmacies and local dining places like Elephant Cafe.
Clearly want to get my p photo with every single tropical plant over here!

Would love one of these fan palm trees back home in Melbourne!
Dining in

There are plenty of dining options within the resort should you feel like eating in. We tried the popular El Gaucho restaurant which faces the beach for sunset. Its speciality is grilled meat and so we decided to try one of their signature dishes, the Brazilian Churrasco selection as part of our dinner, alongside Phuket lobster. For the Brazilian Churrasco, you are served a variety of grilled meats by a waiter who comes around every few minutes. This is accompanied by a selection of sauces and gravies as well as a self-serve salad bar. It seems like the courses are never ending and you never know what you'll get next! The lobster dish is also delicious (and massive in serving size!) and comes with your selection of two sides.

Bye Movenpick, we miss you and hope to be back soon!
