Part 2 of my London guide is all about the cute little areas that are just out of the immediate centre of London but still extremely easy to reach by public transport or uber.

  1. Notting Hill area: It's one of my favourite places in London when it comes to searching for quirky colourful houses. In particular, look around St Luke's Mews and Westbourne Grove - really, just walk around and enjoy the beautiful triple storey houses in the area. It's quite fancy here, stop by for some shopping or at a cafe. Notting Hill has always been one of my favourite areas in London. We stayed nearby the last time I visited and it was so nice to just wander around in the mornings.

  2. Columbia Flower Market: Fourth time in London, first time visiting Columbia Flower Market! We arrived here around 1:30pm (market starts around 8am and closes 3ish) and boy was it packed. Shoulder to shoulder down the whole street but definitely lots of flowers left. If you're staying in London for quite some time, Columbia Flower Market is the perfect place to get flowers on the cheap for your apartment. It seems the going price for most things is 5 pounds for a bunch which by Australian standards, is very reasonable. The prices make you want to pick up one of everything and we really had to stop ourselves from doing that!

  3. Portobello Rd Market: On a Saturday, you can catch the busy Portobello Rd Market. It's full of vintage treasures and knick knacks so if you are ever searching for something particular, there's a high chance you'll find it here. The place is bustling with tourists and at the tip of the market, there is a row of beautiful colourful houses to see.

  4. Churchill Arms: Probably the most photogenic pub I've seen - The Churchill Arms is dressed head to toe in flowers though I've read online that it recently changed ownership. Fingers crossed the new owner will keep its stunning look. When we came by, there were heaps of people photographing this pub!

  5. Pretty houses - find your own!: I find the area of London around Hyde Park is dotted with stunning streets and cute colourful houses. They are residential places however so do use your discretion when adventuring around here. The best part is finding your own. I love heading down a random street as a shortcut to get somewhere else and realising we've stumbled across a cute row of rainbow coloured houses. On one of the days, we had the pleasure meeting the owner of one of these houses - an elderly lady with equal parts personality as to the personality displayed on the front of her house.

You may have noticed I have left out all the food recommendations from these two posts - I had so many that I had to put them aside from a separate post! So the last edition to this series will be the food part of London. Check that out next for all my favourite spots around the city for foodies.
