Sofitel Melbourne on Collins
The other week I had the opportunity to partner with Sofitel Melbourne On Collins to experience their luxurious five star property during the Melbourne Cup long weekend. I've actually visited Sofitel Melbourne before, once to enjoy late night tea at Atrium Bar and other times to attend conferences in their Grand Ballroom - both places which I love so it was exciting this time to finally check out their beautiful rooms.
Room
The rooms at Sofitel Melbourne are spacious and luxurious, with a hint of French inspired decor throughout. The bed was one of the comfiest hotel beds I've slept in - it makes it hard to leave! With the hotel starting on the 35th floor, you are guaranteed sky-high views of Melbourne where ever you are. We spent both nights watching the sun set and the city light up. It's like living amongst the clouds and observing the world move by below and there's almost no need to visit observations decks or the like when your hotel room doubles up as your very own private observation deck!I just loved peeking out of our windows. From our room, we could see St Patrick's Cathedral, Parliament House and Nicholson st heading all the way up north into infinity. The palm trees are so small when you're so high up!
Breakfast
Breakfast at Sofitel Melbourne is a luxurious buffet spread in No 35 restaurant. It was one of my favourite hotel breakfast buffets actually as alongside the assortment of bread, fresh fruits, hot and cold dishes, there was also a waffle station, miso soup (yum!) and a huge selection of fresh juices, smoothies and juice shots to choose from. Of course, all this is enjoyed with a panoramic view of the city making every morning a beautiful start to the day.
Location
With Sofitel Melbourne being in the heart of the luxurious Collins St precinct, it's the perfect place to base yourself if you're visiting Melbourne as there are heaps of shops and sights nearby. All the designers are just down the street (Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Prada, Cartier just to name a few) and then you also have some of Melbourne's best restaurants at your doorstep as well - try out Supernormal, Il Solito Posto, Cumulus and Kenzan. If you're looking for sights, Fitzroy Gardens which is one of my favourites because of its little conservatory is right around the corner and as is Parliament House, Federation Square and more. For tourists to the city - did you know that Melbourne now has a free tram zone within the city centre? Right outside Sofitel is a tram stop making it even more convenient to get to wherever you want to go within the CBD. For heading out of town to events like the Melbourne Cup at Flemington Racecourse, Parliament train station is a few steps away and is a super convenient way to get you right at the doorstep of the spring carnival as well as connecting you to all the city loop stations which makes it extremely convenient to access all stations on the train network. Of course, just catch a taxi or Uber for a quick and easy transfer too.
Sofitel Melbourne on Collins have also put together their own travel guide to Melbourne which you can check out here.We loved our stay at Sofitel Melbourne. It was so convenient being based in the city and I love staycations for this reason. The hotel staff are great at making you feel right at home and are friendly, helpful and full of smiles. The interior of the hotel - especially the atrium - is a sight in itself and a great place to wind down after a big day out. I hope you do stay at Sofitel Melbourne on Collins soon!
