Christmas Gift Guide - Eco-Conscious gift ideas from Biome!
I'm so glad to have discovered Biome earlier this year. This eco-friendly store is like a dream come true and has helped me discover so many useful products and tools to help me live more sustainably this year. This Christmas, I'm excited to put together some of my favourite gifting picks from Biome - perfect for a friend or family member who is interested in gardening, sustainability and living more consciously. Hope you enjoy and get some inspiration for Christmas shopping this month!
1. The Simple Home by Rhonda Hetzel
This book is packed full of ideas on living more intentionally at home. Separated into 12 sections (one for each month), Rhonda goes through a different area of focus for each month, ranging from celebrations, to spring cleaning, to getting organised in the house. It's a nice handbook to reference every month and really motivates you with its format of just focusing on one task a month. As we're heading to the start of the new year, I'm excited to take on the challenge of following each month's suggestions and advice and see how I go. This book is the perfect present for a first home owner like us, or just anyone who is wanting to get more organised and live more simply in their own place.Shop The Simple Home by Rhonda Hetzel here.
2. The Little Veggie Patch Co heirloom seeds
Know an avid food gardener in your life? A packet (or three!) of The Little Veggie Patch Co's heirloom seeds are the perfect little gift for Christmas or just because. Heirloom seeds are seeds that have been passed down for generations because of the quality of flavour, hardiness and productivity and these little seed packets are packaged so beautifully making them great for gifting.
3. The Little Veggie Patch Co - How to Grow Food in Small Spaces
I love this book from The Little Veggie Patch Co. team. It's packed full of step-by-step advice for building your own raised vegetable garden beds, composting, irrigation and more, followed by an A to Z guide for all the fruits and vegetables you can possibly ever think of planting. The information is super practical and perfect for someone who is looking to establish their own food garden - whether it be in an apartment/small space or full blown backyard..
4. Urban Greens Microgreens Window Sill Kit
How fun is this? For someone who loves microgreens in their salads or sandwiches, Urban Greens makes this super cute and stylish microgreens growing kit which includes everything you need to get started as well as some handy instructions. This kit has baby broccolini, rocket and radish sprouting seeds. Place it on your kitchen windowsill and you've got a little indoor garden right at your fingertips!
5. Mad Millie Tofu & Vegan Treats Kit
For the tofu lover out there, I bet they haven't tried a DIY tofu kit! It comes with everything you need to make 2kg of hard tofu - one of my favourite protein options. Mad Millie even do vegan cheese kits, gingerbeer kits and more as well!
6. Nut Milk Bag
Know someone who loves almond milk from the supermarket (like me?) I've heard so many times from others who make their own almond milk that once you start making your own, you will never be able to go back to the store bought stuff. Making your own almond milk at home is super easy - all you need is to soak your almonds overnight, a blender, and this nut milk bag. It's the perfect little gift to jumpstart a person's DIY almond milk making career and can also be used for so many other tasks as well! Cashew cheese? I'm in!
7. Lifecykel Oyster Mushrooms
Have you ever wanted to grow your own mushrooms at home but didn't want to get it wrong? Lifecykel have a really cool oyster mushroom growing kit where you simply just add water and wait for them to grow. The kits are prepared from waste coffee grounds too, adding to the sustainable nature of the product!
8. Seed Envelopes and Wooden plant labels
A really useful couple of things to have in any food gardener's toolbox are seed envelopes and plant labels. When you're collecting seeds from bolted veggies, it's always a challenge to find a good way to store them for next year. A good idea is a seed envelope as they're the same style as commercial seed packets, making them easy to store alongside all your other seeds. Plant labels are also super handy as when it comes to sowing a bunch of seeds, it's easy to forget where you've planted what. Having labels in the garden or in your seed germination trays keeps you organised and on track!
9. Stainless Steel Smoothie Straws
I'm excited that Biome has released a more wider straw - they're made for thicker drinks like smoothies, but are also good for bubble tea as well! Perfect for carrying out and about with you - these wide straws are a small price to pay for all the plastic straws you'll save.
10. Sow n Sow Christmas Card with Seeds
Taking Christmas cards to a whole new level is Sow n Sow. They do eco-friendly cards with a gift of seeds. I think it's so clever and a beautiful way to include a special little gift with your card. This particular card comes with sweet pea seeds!
11. Urban Greens Groovy Greens Grow Kit
For someone looking to jumpstart their garden quick, the Urban Greens kit is a really cool gift idea!.It comes with everything you need to grow a bunch of curated veggie collections. This particular kit has you covered for brussel sprouts, kale, pak choy, rocket and swiss chard. Plus, it also includes little peat pots, plant labels and other things needed to make magic happen.
