Guangzhou 2 Day Itinerary & Travel Guide (Part 2)

Part 2 of my Guangzhou 2 Day Itinerary is here! We flew to Guangzhou with China Southern Airlines and hired a private car charter through Klook so that we could fit more into our day.

Day 2

Shamian Island

Start the day off with a stroll around Shamian Island - this beautiful part of Guangzhou with historical significance - it was a former concession that was established by the French and British, hence the distinct architecture in the area. At Shamian Island, there are many colourful buildings and lots of flowers as well! Be sure to stop by Starbucks, the building its housed in is especially pretty with its mint green paint!

Yum cha @ Guangzhou Jiujia

Hungry for brunch? It's time to grab some yum cha! Yum cha is the Cantonese tradition of brunch involving Chinese tea and little dishes to share. It's an absolute must do when in Guangzhou and there are plenty of Yum cha restaurants to choose from. We decided to visit Guangzhou Jiujia and our driver took us to the oldest branch which is situated in the Liwan area. At Guangzhou Jiujia, you order items off a menu and they bring it out to you, instead of the usual picking off the cart. So if you can't read Chinese, it may be a bit of a difficulty - fear not, order the items with the 'recommended' thumbs up symbol. You'll figure it out!

Lychee Bay

Our next destination is Lychee Bay. This beautiful area came recommended to us by the private car charter driver we booked via Klook. She told us that lots of people ask to visit Lychee Bay and so we took up her recommendation and decided to check it out. It did not disappoint!

Lychee Bay is a beautiful park area and lake, with lots of locals enjoying the park when we visited. We spent about 1-2 hours here enjoying the beautiful Chinese touches in the park - moon gates, canals, bridges and more.

Chen Clan Academy Hall

After Lychee Bay, head down to Chen Clan Academy Hall, another site of historical and cultural significance. The Hall is constructed with lots of details put into the craftsmanship. Be sure to take a closer look at the sculptures carved on the rooftops. The Guangdong folk museum is also housed here.

Temple of the Six Banyan Trees

End the day at Temple of the Six Banyan Trees. This ancient Buddhiest temple is in the heart of the city and is a peaceful place to explore.
