Colouring My Hair with Rakis on Collins
I’ve been going to Rakis on Collins in Melbourne for a couple of years now and love how well they look after my hair. Prior to them, I was always scared of colouring my hair after hearing all those colour stories of hair falling out and what not, but I’ve been lightening my hair with them for ages now and it’s always been healthy and strong.
I have naturally black hair (my background is Chinese) and so at the start, the team at Rakis advised me to lighten my hair in stages to see how it would react, as it’s different for every person. They also taught me how to better look after my hair which was surprisingly easy! All I’ve done is switch to a shampoo & conditioner made for lightened hair (some brands that work well for me include Klorane, Shu Umera Ultimate Remedy which they sell in the salon & Briogeo from Sephora). Every few washes I use a hair mask instead of a conditioner, and I use oil on my hair after I towel dry it. All of which is super low maintenance.
I’ve just had my hair done this week with a fresh creamy blonde & a root smudge to keep the regrowth looking natural when my hair grows out. Very happy with the colour (as always!) - Toro, my little papillon pup, did however complain that I was copying his style!
Thanks so much to Maddie who has been doing my hair over the past year. I’ve also gotten to know plenty of the others in the salon as well and absolutely love how welcoming and friendly everyone is!
