Melbourne Spring Fashion Week
100% exhausted.
This is probably the most craziest week i've had all year! Woke up pretty much 7am almost every single day and went to uni, attended two fashion shows, volunteered on another two shows, went to work, handed in an assignment, did a mid-sem, and am studying for another mid-sem that's happening coming wednesday. above that, there are still two assignments i have yet to start!
But onto what was the week of epic muscle aches.. MSFW! I must be the most unfit person in the world because i don't even remember doing anything that strenous yesterday, but all four limbs of moi ache! i am walking around like some old man..
On Thursday night, a friend & i went to the Designer Series Show 3. We got there way early and ended up sitting in the second row on the balcony. I wasn't sure if cameras were allowed or not, so i brought my camera with my smallest lens, the non-zoomable prime lens and guess what - cameras were allowed! Because i couldn't zoom, all i could take were tiny photos of the models and here are some zoomed in and cropped epically:
Leopald
Alice McCall
Bettina Liano
Leopald
Obus
Wayne Cooper

This was the goodie bag that we got for the Designer Series show :) The bag was designed by Gorman and i have found the perfect use for it = carrying textbooks to uni! I used to use a larger canvas shopping bag which was a little too big for my textbooks and my books would just flop around inside the bag and become bent at the edges. This one however, is the perfect size ♥ The bag contained the latest issue of Marie Claire, Nutrient water, chocolate, a little notebook, Natio moisturiser and some Kevin Murphy samples :)
On Friday, i volunteered for the 'It's a Man's World' show at City Square. There was a lot of sitting around during the morning as they had nothing for us to do. We did however meet quite a few stylists and see Matthew Welsh getting fitted in person! A lovely girl whom i met whilst volunteering goes for Essendon and was very excited whilst we went to steam his t-shirt hahahahaha! There were too many back of house volunteers when it came to showtime, so a few of us had to sit out and watch the show, including me :( I was originally assigned a model (who by th way was really quite lovely and about twice my height) and had managed to dress him halfway before getting sent out to watch the show as back of house was just so cramped! It was actually tiny. Anyway, we got to sit in the VIP area which was great hahaha :) So here are some photos from the show :) They were taken on my mobile so excuse the quality!
Rhys Uhlich, the winner from Make Me a Supermodel opened the show. I didn't know who he was as i never watched the show, but i've definitely seen so many campaigns featuring him as when i saw him come in backstage, he looked sooo familar!
The papparazi was really quite crazy!
Saturday was really my big day. I spent the day working back of house for the City Square lunch series again and then hung around the city doing not much, waiting for the RMIT show! Not sure if i was allowed to take these behind the scenes photos..
Some highlights include seeing stylist Connel Chiang in person. I remember reading about him being a Westfield stylist and was absolutely stunned when i saw him walk into the room we were all working in. I was in the same room as Connel for a good three hours!!!! Yet i did not say a single word to him..! MAN it was intense, he spent the morning styling the Ruby Rose show whilst we were taking tape off shoes hahaha.
Anyway, I ended up getting the chance to work back of house for this show and it was definitely intense, but fun too! It was really crazy back of stage as models rushed to get changed into their next outfit. Clothes were just getting thrown everywhere! The model i dressed was really nice :) I actually felt pretty intimidated backstage as everyone was twice my size haha.
Highlights @ the RMIT show. After my shift, i had two hours to kill before meeting up with some friends to see the RMIT 'Dangerous Goods' show. There was really no point of me going home and coming back into the city so i hung around numerous arcades reading Frankie magazine. I felt like the biggest loner and was way self conscious i moved to a different seat/bench/couch every 15 minutes!
The RMIT show showcased the work of 4th year fashion students at RMIT University. One of the students used to be the school captain of the high school i went to!
Blanka Pociask's Collection - thought this was very interesting..!
My favourite collection would've been this one by Cindy Wei Zhang. It was a beautifully sculptured, structured and extravagant piece of art and really stood out for me! Just check out these two dresses!
Cindy Wei Zhang's Collection
Raine Taylor's Collection
Ashleigh Robertson's Collection
Kasia Gorniak's Collection
These are not all the photos i took, there are simply too many to upload. You can find more photography coverage of the week at Fashionising.com :)
And ending with a few places K is for KANI has travelled to recently..
I was excited to have Liat from MTV Style contacting me to let me know about a lovely feature! Click here to see the full article
Also, absolutely stunned i was when Turi from Modcloth let me know about this feature! I am a huge fan of indie labels/vintage/Modcloth and was soso excited to see myself on their blog!
Lastly, a couple of lovely readers have sent me these links :)
Hen from Teenage Daydreams posted a sweet little write up about K is for KANI here and Eli from A Glamorous way of Thinking wrote this post up here. Thankyou girls and thanks for joining me on my blogging journey ♥
I am pretty sure i have bored you all with this almost rambleworthy post - i'm off to do homework now and for the record - this post took me almost 2 hours to write up!
